Practical workforce planning tools and resources for anyone leading teams in health & social care.
Workforce Planning Tools
From free ready-made spreadsheets to national web-based platforms, explore the tools we've built and let us know what you need.
Spreadsheet Library
We are building a library of spreadsheets for different workforce modelling needs. We have already done the hard work, so we want to make them available to our members for free.
Contact us and we can send you the most relevant one, for free. We can also adapt and create new models tailored to your needs.
LORD — Long-Term Optimised Resource Design Model
The LORD model has been developed to support NHS Trusts delivering workforce planning for the New Hospitals Programme. It automatically links interventions, planned future activity and workforce to create outputs that support a business case — with automated reports for NHP reporting, taking away the pain for users.
Legacy Modelling Tools
We have learned a great deal from our previous experience creating modelling tools. The overall approaches and technical linking of data sets have informed the way we approach modelling today at the AHCWP.
WRaPT
The Workforce Repository and Planning Tool (WRaPT) has supported workforce planners for more than 10 years. The web-based tool itself will be closing on 31 October 2026, but the WRaPT approach remains the AHCWP's go-to method for understanding workforce.
TAQAA
TAQAA is a workforce planning tool which sets an expected staffing level for each facility and specialty, based on activity information and defined standards. It was developed for Saudi Arabia but is applicable to other health systems worldwide.
